The Severed Middle, Fixed: How We Turned 30 Blog Posts + 3,000 LinkedIn Impressions/Day Into Tracked Sign-ups
We have 30 blog posts live. LinkedIn shows roughly 3,000 impressions a day at a 27% engagement rate. Search sends us over a thousand impressions a month. And our tracked sign-up counter read zero — every day, for nine consecutive days.
This is the post where we fix it in public, because the fix is boring and the numbers are not.
The diagnosis: reach is real, the bridge is missing
Here is our own funnel, pulled live this month:
- LinkedIn: ~2,968–3,133 impressions/day, 26.6–27.7% engagement rate
- Search (GSC): 1,084 impressions, average position improved to 26.8 from 35.3
- Blog: 30 published posts
- Tracked UTM visits: 0
- Tracked UTM form submits: 0
- Tracked sign-ups: 0
- CRM pipeline from content: $0
Every one of those top numbers is healthy. Every one of those bottom numbers is a flat line. That is not a content problem. That is a plumbing problem — and specifically, a measurement problem.
We were publishing into the void. People read, nodded, scrolled, and vanished, because nothing on the path asked them to do anything we could measure.
Why small teams lose the middle
If you run a 2–20 person team, this is probably your funnel too. Here is the mechanism:
- A post gets written. Good content. Real insight. Someone reads it.
- Nobody tracks the click. The link — if there is one — is a bare
dolv.workURL with no UTM tags. So when a reader clicks through, your analytics records an anonymous session with no source. - Nobody captures the email. There is no form on the path. The reader is interested and has nowhere to say so.
- Nobody follows up. Even a warm reader goes cold, because no journey, sequence, or task fires when they show interest.
Three broken links in a row. The result is a CRM that stays empty while your engagement rate looks great.
The fix: one loop, four steps
We stopped trying to write better content and started building a bridge. The bridge has exactly four steps.
Step 1 — Tag every outbound link with one campaign name. Every link from blog and LinkedIn now carries four UTM parameters: source, medium, campaign, and content. The campaign is locked (bofu-engine) so everything rolls up to one number. The content tag identifies the exact asset and placement, so we can kill weak placements and double down on strong ones.
Step 2 — Point every post at one landing page with one form. Not the homepage. Not five different pages. One page, one promise, one form. When the reader clicks, they land somewhere that matches what the post promised.
Step 3 — Capture the email and create the contact. The form writes a contact and a lead into the CRM automatically. The moment someone signs up, they exist in the system — with the source attached.
Step 4 — Follow up within 24 hours. A single useful follow-up. Not a drip of seven emails. One message that delivers the thing they asked for and offers the next step.
That is a loop. Everything else is just publishing.
What this looks like on a landing page
The landing page is where the promise gets kept. Ours leads with the exact pain the reader arrived with:
Headline: Stop guessing which content converts. See the sign-ups your blog + LinkedIn actually drove.
Subhead: Connect your stack and dolv shows you the loop — post → click → sign-up → pipeline — in about 15 minutes. No setup, no new dashboard to babysit.
CTA: Run my free Loop Audit →
The form asks for four things and nothing more: name, work email, company, and what you publish. Every extra field is a reason to leave.
The lesson for a team of one
If you are the only marketer on your team — or the founder doing marketing at night — this is the highest-leverage hour you will spend this quarter. You do not need more content. You do not need another tool. You need the pipe between the content you already have and the CRM you already pay for.
Tag the links. Point them at one page. Capture the email. Follow up once. Then, and only then, write the next post — because now you will finally know whether it worked.
